There are specific practices that formed the somatic foundation of Daoism. Modern psychotherapy has rediscovered the value of these practices and have attempted to repackage them as something modern. But they are not modern. In fact, they are something ancient that "modern" humans forgot.

Rather than indulge in the bias that the current time is superior to past times, as if wisdom follows a straight line of progress ever forward into the future, we can admit that these ancient practices were created organically and give credit to the people who created them, not psychologists, not mental health professionals, but indigenous people in ancient China. The text below is a contemporary rendering of many of these practices.
